I've been playing guitar as long as I can remember, probably since Kylie was crawling around in Gold Lame nappies. After a handfull of acoustic guitar lessons I felt the need to plug in and have been teaching myself the electric guitar since.

I started gigging the Newcastle pub circuit as a teenager in my first serios band Acrobat, playing and recording mostly original material.(It was the norm back in the dark ages for bands to play their own songs). We were so keen to gig that I was even known to 'borrow' my big brothers A-Team painted transit van to transport the gear. We probably invented the term 'burnin rubber' as none of us could drive and we didn't realise you had to release the handbrake. (Dont do this at home kids)

There were a few incarnations of Acrobat with different members and band names before eventually splitting. I then joined The Marshall Hall Experience for a spaced out Rock/Cabaret gig including transvestites, skin divers and topless fire-eaters but my memory of this period seems a little hazy. There was no such thing as rehab in those days, so I just left the band and formed Jenesequa, an instrumental 3 piece band with Mick Simpson and Dave Handyside(Now in Riff Raff ACDC tribute band). We played a lot of good gigs supporting The Groundhogs before dave had to move out of the area.

Mick Simpson,Mick Hunter and myself then formed The Force with Dave Shaw joining later to make up the 4 piece band. I think Mick has covered this period in his biog so I wont bore with any details, suffice to say we had many good experiences with the band until I could no longer commit to the amount of time required.

I then formed Diablo with Aynsley Merrit from Acrobat days (now in Fizzical Wreck) Dave Handyside and Mark Glover(Young Guns) and played various gigs with a few line-up changes, before the band split leaving me to team up with Mick Simpson, Garry and Kev to form SPARTAN and Rock rejuvenation was complete.

People to thank:-Me

Favourite Spartan member:-Kev 'the baby' Mcguire. (Oh no your not printing this are you, ther'll be trouble ahead)

Influences:-Paul Kossoff for the constant amazement at how something so simple is so hard to do and watching anybody who loves to play or sing live.

Tip of the day:- Always keep an axe in the loo for those moments of inspiration.
